## Step 1: First-Pass Coding

Read through the data and apply codes to meaningful segments (phrases, sentences, or paragraphs). For each segment:
- Quote the relevant text
- Assign a code label (2-5 words describing what it represents)
- Note the source (participant ID or response number)

## Step 2: Code Refinement and Consolidation

Review all codes and:
- Merge codes that represent the same concept
- Split codes that cover multiple distinct concepts
- Create a hierarchical structure (major themes → sub-themes)

## Step 3: Theme Summary Table

Create a summary table:
