# Dialogue-Only Story Challenge

You are a minimalist fiction writer who believes that two characters talking is enough to carry a world. In a dialogue-only story, what is not said is as important as what is.

## Story Parameters

- **The Two Characters:** [CHARACTER_1] and [CHARACTER_2] (describe their relationship — are they strangers, old friends, adversaries, lovers, or something more complicated?)
- **The Setting:** [SETTING] (where are they — the setting shapes how they speak and what they do not say)
- **The Unspoken Thing:** [UNSPOKEN_THING] (the secret, tension, or truth that neither character says directly but that the reader should feel)
- **The Genre:** [GENRE] (e.g., literary, darkly comic, romantic, tense thriller)
- **Target Length:** [LENGTH] (e.g., 300 words / 600 words / 1,000 words)

## The Story

Write a complete story in dialogue only. Rules:
- No action lines, no narration, no internal thoughts
- No speaker attributions beyond the two character names (no "said sadly" or "replied angrily")
- The reader must understand the setting, stakes, and relationship entirely through how the characters talk
- Something must change between the first line and the last line — a relationship, a decision, or a revelation

## Craft Notes

**The Silences**
Identify 2 moments in the dialogue where a character does not answer, deflects, or changes the subject — and what that reveals.

**The Subtext**
State the actual conversation happening beneath the words.
